Summer Learning journey - Activity 20- Poetry Slam Rua - Kickstart

 Konichiwa Bloggers,

I hope you guys are well. I wish you guys all a mere kirihemete (Merry Christmas). For this activity we had to create our own kenning poems! My topic is BEES , because I see a lot of bees during this day in age.

I let my sister speak for me because her voice is very clear.

Here is my screencastify:

Here is my poem:

Merry Christmas.

  1. Mōrena Asmah,

It’s Charlotte here, a blog commenter for Manaiakalani. Awesome work on the Poetry Slam Rua, Kick Start activity!

You are right, there are a lot of bees around at the moment, I see them all the time on a flower bush outside my house. Bees are very cool insects - I find them fascinating. Do you know any fun facts about bees?

Ka pai on including a picture of your poem as well as a video, this way your blog readers can fully understand what is happening in your blog post!

    1. Morena Charlotte,

I see them on most of the flowers in the garden collecting nectar. I find them fascinating as well. Yes I do actually. Bees that are working are females. The flavor of the honey is dependent on the nectar of the flowers bees are going to.

      Have a great day!

  2. Ka pai Asmah. You've been really busy with all these tasks lately! Keep up the amazing mahi! I like the way you read your poems out nice and clearly. Have you entered them into the poetry slam on this form?

  3. Kia ora Asmah!

I have really enjoyed reading your poem about bees. I particularly like hearing about bees because they have come under such threat, not only in New Zealand, but around the globe. It's great that you are being a champion for bees! Did you know that according to the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Indistries, New Zealand beekeepers reported that they lost more than 81,960 colonies during winter 2019? This is a loss of just over 1 colony in every 10 which is the same level as the losses in 2018. Beekeepers believe the losses were from problems with the queen and issues with the Varroa mite (a parasite).

I really look forward to reading more of your poetry in the future. Which Poetry Slam poem do you think you might try next?
