Summer Learning Journey - Activity 63 - one is a snail ten is a crab - Step it up

Kia Ora Bloggers,

For this step it up activity we had to create a New Zealand version of the book one is snail and ten is crab. This was pretty confusing so I would not be surprised if I did it wrong. I hope I did not do it wrong. Me and my brother worked on this one together to make it easier for us.

Here is the slide:

Hope you like it.
Bye.

  1. Ka pai Asmah. What a great idea to tea up with your brother. I love the kiwi twist you've given the story. I'd never heard of powelliphanta or amarinus so I just had to Google them! thank you for helping me learn something new. I also love the way rua and kea rhyme, great practice for the poetry slam! I thought 100 was rau in te reo but I'm not totally sure. I wonder how we could check?

  2. Kia ora Asmah,

This is some awesome work! Great job counting up to 1000 in Māori, that's fantastic! Even though it was confusing you both did well working counting the legs and adding everything together.

Did you learn any fun facts about any of the animals or bugs you included in your slides? I know that keas are very smart but very cheeky! Some people call them the clowns of the mountain because of how mischievous they are.

I hope you enjoyed completing this activity, keep up the great work.

    Ngā mihi,
    Lauren
